Mt. Seulawah Agam On Alert
Mt. Seulawah Agam on Aceh has been raised to the lowest alert status (from no alert) by the Center for Volcanology and Disaster Mitigation following a series of earthquakes recorded.
Mt. Seulawah Agam is the closest volcano to Banda Acheh, located approximately 35-40 kilometers (20-24 miles) away.
From Banda, Seulawah can be seen as a beautiful mountain visible off in the distance.
This volcano has not erupted since 1839 and was last active in 1975.
The center has declared a radius of three kilometers from the crater to be off limits.
